September 2005

Corpse Bride comes out everywhere today- go see it, especially if you were a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas.

I can't believe they don't have matinee/student prices at movie theaters in Manhattan...

It's been a busy busy week. It's too long of a story to get into here, but let's just say it involved broken outlets, someone hoarding books at the non-circulating library at school, and a completely insane potential employer.

I was applying for some position relatively close to my apartment, but after walking by the place of employment and talking to the guy on the phone, I got a really bad vibe from him. Like, I was almost convinced that if I went in for an in person interview, I would end up being his lampshade or something.

Anyway, I politely e-mail him, telling him that "I regret having to cancel our interview, but I have found a position elsewhere," and that I wanted to "thank [him] for taking [his] time to talk to me." After that I got some angry angry e-mails from this person, saying that I should've gone to the interview anyway- even if I already found a job (b/c it was my "duty"). Uh-huh...

My tuition for this semester costs as much as a year of being at UCLA. It makes me want to go back and apologize for ever complaining about fee hikes (even though it HAS gone up a lot in the past 4 years).

Anyway, that's why the job hunt continues.

Your donations are still appreciated though, and pretty soon I may install a little advertisement program on the site. Your banner would be above Monsieur Smokey (to the right), and can be 300 x 80 pixels. Fellow comic artists might be interested in that. I promise to make the prices reasonable.

Oh and please remember to vote for CLV on!

I updated the "About" section- there's a more up to date "auto-biography" as well as a pic of moi- it's a different one from my portrait.

(Oh and I passed my German exam! yay!)

(Still have to wait for my French exam results though...)

Just a reminder that it is the beginning of a new month, so please show your support for the comic by voting for it on the top web comics 100 list!

And if any of you have spare cash, please consider supporting the comic financially via the donate button to the right. The money I make from Uclick is not enough to pay for this site every month, and as my expenses are going to be increasing several times over this year (school, groceries, living, etc.), any extra costs that could be alleviated would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading the comic- I hope everyone's still enjoying it!

Well, I've been in New York City for about a week now...

So I apologize to the people who have written me e-mails- I haven't been able to get back to you b/c I've been busy getting settled here. I've also been busy going to Orientations and interviews for various seminars. Today I have my French and German exams- wish me good luck!

The people at my grad school are significantly more aloof than the people at UCLA. The culture at the school, and the city itself is quite different from what I'm used to. I'm a little bit homesick.

Either which way, I"m glad to be in a city where public transportation actually works and where the tap water surprisingly tastes REALLY good.
